I see a lot of conflicting reviews of this story, some of them I think have limited exposure to good Light Novels while others I think are looking for something else. So, I'm going to give a deep drive explaining my perspective.Note: I start my reviews at 10/10 and subtract from there. Afterwhich I divide by 2 to get the ?/5 rating. This comes in at 4/10 or a 2/5. At this time I really haven't gotten very far into the story, but it lacks flavor. Nothing really stands out to me as being unique or special. Even if we ignore the writing issues, the cookie cutter darkness skills and personality would stop it from being a 5/5. BroadcastingThe first 4 chapters the author sets up the stage (to long in my opinion) explained "god" showed up and is forcing 1, 000 people to be isekaied in 6 months. The time frame just seems odd to me... why 6 months? I could understand a day or maybe a week, but the 6 months seems like a strange amount of time. Why tell people "Hey I'm going to through you in a new world and broadcast it to everyone on this planet".It just... idk seems odd. I know some other Light Novels used a similar idea, but instead of normal people it was gods. Or maybe other people within the tower or dungeon. It does start to make a little more sense later on since the author uses real world discussion boards to act as information dumps. Explaining events, monsters, other isekied people situations... but personally I think it was a bad choice. It pulls me out of the mood and it doesn't feel like the story has as much weight to it.-1 point (s) Skills and Stats One thing I thought was strange is how the Main Character picks their stats. He picks HP and Loved by Spirits (magic). In terms of game and fantasy logic this is pretty strange. Normally you fall into a build so you can later on work with other people with different builds to create well rounded parties. This isn't a game breaker or anything, just seems counter intuitive. I mean pretty much anyone who has played an RPG knows this as min-maxing or at least the concept. Yet the Main character sort of defies logic (I will get into this more later).-1 point (s) When first reading this and it said "darkness" as one of the Spirit types... I just prayed. Please... please don't pick darkness. 99% of JP Light Novels the Main Character always has darkness. Either it's magic or their sword shoots it out. I am honestly surprised that this has become so common. In a world full of epic magic or amazing martial arts or whatever... it is always darkness. Why not fire, lightning, ice. I mean just give me anything else PLEASE!-2 point (s) Redundancy & Unexplained Information
There is a lot of redundancy in the writing. I should probably say plot or events instead since the writing itself is alright.A great example is when the Main Character is first summoned, they arrive in a white room with a limit amount of time to select their stats.During this, they mess up and reset their stats, so they have enough to pick something else. However, they run out of time and poof, then arrive in the New World...Or did they? They actually arrived in a tutorial-like spot, in which they have a few minutes to buy anything and adjust their stats. What was the point of the hype and tension around not having time... when they get more time afterwards? What is the point of the 3 mins in the tutorial when they get teleported somewhere else right afterwards? It just seems odd, a bit redundant and not really needed. It is somewhat understandable since it is a web novel, so I'm not to disappointed. We also see some odd pieces of information skipped. When the Main Character arrives he doesn't mention anything about adding his stats in the computer, but then afterwards he mentioned it was a computer. I'm not sure if this was the translation or what, but it isn't the only time this happened. We see it again with a crystal that is never explained, but out of no where he has it and it works exactly as planned even though he shouldn't know how to use it.-1 point (s) Odd Thoughts & Knowledge of things they shouldn't have
Another strange thing I've noticed are the odd thoughts of the main character. So let's say you are burned, you might think "oh shit, ouch, hot, ouch, water", but the Main Character sort of goes "I wonder if my childhood friend likes upside down pancakes.". (not a real example) It seems sort of strange for the situation.I should probably give you an example, so you know what I mean.Spoiler
The Main character just arrives in the New World trying to figure out his stats, settings, understanding the system and what not... but takes time to stop and think about when he will meet up with his childhood friend. He just watched her die before being transferred... that was actually why he arrived. How does he know she is alive or even there?
[collapse]It just seems strange, this actually happens 3 or 4 times in the first 8 chapters. To make things worse, often time the Main Character just knows knowledge that he shouldn't know. Like trying to find someone... when he doesn't even know they are there. Actually, he should believe they are not... but for some reason seems as if he knows something we don't? Sort of like the author hinting that he is right?I'm not exactly sure how to explain this, but it sort of feels like a newb mistake or something.I'm pretty sure if this story was published this would be fixed, so it isn't a game-breaker, but it could be better.-1 point (s)
