Jiang Shuyao getting into her career in fashion and design, Yue Xia aimlessly spending a lot of time playing games with Wang Shiya and figuring out what she wants to do for work, and Shi Yunjian creating opportunities to bump into Yue Xia with no real progression.
[collapse]Something I found tedious in the middle part of the story. I wished the author didn't drag this out to raw ch 31.SpoilerAround chapter 17 or 18, it's written as if Jiang Shuyao is finally done Shi Qingyin, but he keeps coming back like the most annoying infectious skin disease. Every encounter after that feels like its going to be their last, but its not. I feel like the author is baiting us and then yanking the rug out a few chapters later.
[collapse]Something I liked in the extras:SpoilerI like Yue Xia's thoughts on marriage and her doubts about how it will negatively change her life despite being in love with the male lead. Cold feet is very common in American sitcoms, but I haven't seen it in Chinese webnovels.
[collapse]A few nitpicks that are easy to skim over when reading:- The author's requirement for emotional and physical v*rginity, as if a person is forever unclean if they had a previous relationship. The idea that men should be held to the same archaic virtues that shackle women isn't societal progress. Those antiquated values should be thrown into the tr*sh for both genders.Spoiler- Yue Xia never explains her past relationship with Shi Qingyin, which unnecessarily hurts Jiang Shuyao at the point in her life when she needs a friend the most. Yue Xia could have easily said she got over Shi Qingyin after her failed su*cide attempts.
