The Strange Adventure of a Broke Mercenary Chapter v12 Discussion

It's a solid, and extremely average fantasy novel. It definitely feels dated. Like, this got published in 2016, but if I'm being honest, the story and characters are kind if more like from 1995. It's literally just a novel set in a Dungeons and Dragons universe with swords and magic along with multiple races.

However, it's written solidly. That's about it. The characters do feel like they're alive in this world. Gale isn't the typical JP protagonist that wants to get a harem of girls, eat soy sauce and rice, and get OP and kill the demon lord. In fact, he's not even JP at all. He's just a mercenary that switches jobs to an adventurer and wants to make a living. Learning the backstories of each character, having them interact with each other and seeing natural dialogue flow, and taking on quests that may or may not go awry is part of the charm in this novel.

Do you like this type of novel where it's just episodic novels regarding quests Gale and his party go on? If not, this definitely is not for you.
