The One and Only Guide Chapter 30 Discussion

I like this novel and feel compelled to leave a review due to the unfairly low ratings.

Translation wise:

First imo the translator did a really good job. Though there is some pronoun mix here and there, But the translation has made this novel flow well. I have a hard time reading Korean novels due to their writing style. Especially when they refer to people using their names instead of you (EX:What would Lucy like to eat?, Instead of, What would you like to ear) .

And when the sentences seem choppy. But the translator has fixed this here. (This is just my opinion, I'm not sure others feel the same for Korean novels)

Writing Wise

Now the Novel itself is also good, the FL doesn't spend 5000 pages thinking or forming a plan, or summarizing the events that has happened every page.

It's fast paced not much fillers, filled with dialogue and no lengthy descriptions, or irrelevant side characters.

In short, she doesn't spend half the story talking to maids and guards, or thinking in her head and imagining scenarios.

Story Wise

An S rank guide who can't match with an esper. Feels down as she is labelled useless, and although is getting paid and all, but she wished to be of use and find an esper to guide, as all espers have 0% match with her.

She gets pulled into a medivel world and saves a high ranking esper there, then he takes her over to his castle.

At first he is possessive of her and Yandere as he thinks of using all means to prevent her from escaping since there are no other guides in their world (they only come through gates)

But then he is slowly tamed by her to become akin to a puppy following her around. It's clear that the author wants the power balance to be in favor of the guide as they stress the dependency of the esper on the guide, and how some guides use that and play with espers' feelings and even lives.

At first she is upset and angry with the ML for holding her in his castle, but she knows he'd die without her and she can't stand to leave an esper to die or suffer, as she has been trained not to.

So she has him promise that if she finds another guide in their world, then he'll let her go. And he agrees.

Of course while she looks around she will probably gather a harem. But we'll see.

I only read 30 chapters, so I can't agree or disagree with the review that said the FL was weak. But imo she is not so far. I think she holds all the power in regards to her relationship with the ml, and he wasn't forceful. But it's still early to judge.
