The beginning was not eye catching at all. I nearly dropped the novel, but when the ML begin to develope curiousity and interest in the MC I got really into it. After the first arc ended, I dropped the novel.

The MC and many other characters are flat and boring like NPCs. The only one who appealed to me was the ML because he was a chaotic mess, and that may be why many scenes with him were amusing. Outside of the trigger warning for S-assault, he has the most fluctuation in personality compared to everyone. I'm surprised he's not the MC instead.

I understand that the MC is a passerby and that's why he tries to be hidden, but this story failed him. Not only is he part of the group of characters "s/he don't move the plot, the plot moves him/her", we are also constantly reminded of how unimportant he is supposed to be. His discription doesn't need to be brought up over and over again. Show us he is unimportant by making him miss out on special scenes or something, and show us how he is an anomaly, or use the ML to bring out why he is an exception.

Spoiler

Like the example in chapter 3 where the ML only took notice of him because he willingly walked all the way home like the ML ordered. Another example is in chapter 4 or 5, when the ML prank called the MC and the MC started chanting Buddhist sutra into the phone.

[collapse]

Constantly throwing out that he is a passerby or having other characters literally say they don't care to look at him is such a lazy way to increase word count.

Imagine reading a novel and the novel is always saying "... because he is a boring", "as a boring person...", "a boring person like him...", "since he is a boring person...", "being a boring person...", "boring person XYZ", and so forth, it will feel like it's over highlighting. There needs to be a balance between describing, showing, and telling.

Anyway...

For now, I decided to drop the novel. If I feel like giving it a shot again, I will come back and read the second arc all the way to the ending.

I can’t wait to read! I love your books so much. I will have to wait until more is done. It drives me crazy waiting for the end.
