Fire Arrow? No, This Is a Rifle!!! Chapter v234 Discussion

It's been great so far, it's an exile kind of story, so there's the usual tropes and cliches for sure, but there's also some stuff that's more unique. The MC is fantastic, I found, he's super strong, but also incredibly weak at the same time. Supporting characters are all cool and have very important roles, it feels like everyone contributes to the story, the MC isn't just singlehandedly making change.

Characters all evolve and grow as people, MC included, as the story progresses, they learn from experiences and grow as people, building their resolve and determination in a natural enough way that it feels amazing.

A big point that I love is how the MC isn't always just handed everything for free. He earns the achievements and victories he gets, he suffers losses, he has to rely on his companions to struggle through situations. And unlike every other series I've read with modern technology in a fantasy world, it feels like the modern tech fits into this one much more seamlessly. Instead of feeling out of place things are adapted to be a neat blend of modern and fantasy, and modern knowledge doesn't always work like you'd expect, because it comes from a world with no magic, and is used in a world with magic. This leads to stuff being familiar enough that it feels comfortable to what we know, but still leaves a bit of mystery and excitement as to how the fantasy part will twist these familiar things.

It's been really good so far, with very few issues I could complain about, I think most everything has been explained really clearly; like the MC is weak because he was born sickly and weak, he doesn't have the physical strength or dexterity to apply any techniques he could learn, he also has nearly no magic power so magic's impossible too. So even with the appropriate knowledge of the technique, he can't make use of it properly.

The one real plot hole I haven't seen an explanation for is Bowman, his dwarf companion. Man's an absolute god, he's way too smart and knowledgeable, like crazy isekai MC levels of cheatness.

I'd absolutely give it a read, it's not perfect by any means, but it's been a super fun read so far and I'm eagerly awaiting more chapters. Between the MC and supporting characters there's a truly fun and interesting cast of characters, that all feel impactful and important; and the MC's personality is badass, so no worries about the typical passive JP MC.

Oh, and also the translation is fantastic. If you didn't tell someone they'd never know it wasn't written by a native English speaker.
