I ended up dropping this halfway because it was becoming somewhat of a drag, and it was also somewhat off-putting to see the ML be so pushy with his pursuit despite the MC rejecting him multiple times. Although I understand that the MC lowkey had some affection for him too, and that they're both young and don't really understand much about relationships yet, it still feels like a chore reading their interactions.I think that's also because there isn't that much magical chemistry going on between them. I'm not sure how to explain it, but I've read rivals-to-lovers stories before but there was always some palpable ambiguous tension going on. Here, it feels forced. Even the rivalry feels forced. The typical sidekick characters written for comedy are also uninspired.Maybe it's because I've read so many characters like the ones here already that the interactions no longer moves me. Or perhaps I need go read through more chapters. But I'm already past the halfway mark and I'm still not convinced enough to continue. Perhaps one needs to be a in a specific mood or mindset to fully enjoy this.
