It's intense! Both main characters have a complex relationship. In BD*M terms, MC is in a puppy-shaming play with the ML in the early arcs I have read.

Puppy is the ML, obviously. MC is the owner in this relationship, and it's worrying since this is spontaneous and can cause you bad headaches. Don't follow this type of relationship between MC and ML. They don't have a safe word, and they're not actually practicing the safe and sane part of SM relationships.

MC is basically a service sad*st because of the System, and he starts the humiliation plays with the ML to keep his cover as a villain.
