Lan Ke Qi Yuan Chapter 1021 Discussion

What a beautiful novel!

It's rare to find such a peaceful but interesting novel.

The story follows Ji Yuan, a transmigrated moden man, as he navigates through a world with demons and humans.

As cliche as it sounds, hear me out:-

Spoiler

There are a few things that makes this novel truly wonderful-

First and foremost, we have the main character, Ji Yuan, himself. Unlike many other main characters found in cultivation novels, he is truly a peaceful and virtuous gentleman. Even faced with many dilemmas where violence would seem like the better option, he remains true to his values. Better yet, he does it without being frustrating. While gentle, he's not indecisive, making him someone you can truly come to respect.

Second, we have the relationships between Ji Yuan and others. Over the course of the novel, Ji Yuan forms deep relationships with mortals, ghosts, demons, and immortals alike There's something cathartic about seeing such fulfilling relationships between characters. Every relationship was beautiful and strong in its own different way.

Third are the side characters. All of them play some role in the novel whether big or small, and very rarely are they just plot devices to be used and discarded.

Fourth, and this may be controversial, is the ending. While the ending might be accused of being a joy kill with plot holes, I thought it was a very suitable ending for Ji Yuan. As the author themselves said, "The world will go on, but the story of Ji Yuan's chess game is over."

Overall, this was a great read. You should definitely read this.
