I'm currently pausing at 213, which is the final official chapter. I'll read the extras once they're all translated.I'm a really picky reader, and I struggle a lot reading novels longer than ~150 chapters, but this time around it was a breeze to read. This novel is so funny. The comedy and face slapping are right up my alley because it's in more mature settings and contexts, instead of being youthful and more immature face slapping like in high school novels, which I can only take in smaller doses. The main CP is also right up my alley because there are plenty of pure gestures of affection and domesticity. What I mean by this is that other novels focus too much on the plot and the main couple's romance is only described in hugging, kissing, and having s*x, but in this novel, they just do so much for one another. They show their love in the subtlest, natural ways that couples do in real life, so it feels refreshing and I could read about it all day. Sitting pressed up to one another, feeding each other, holding hands, cuddling, bathing together, spoiling the other by letting them play around with your things, massaging the other, petting, tickling, carrying each other, face kisses, fixing each other's clothes, etc.The side characters are so wholesome, too. I love the friendship between MC and Bai Xuege, and the relationship between ML and his older brother Han Yu, and how all these side characters have their own bonds with one another and get along so naturally.I binged this in 3 days. It was just so funny. The only criticism I have is that starting from around Ch122, there's a span of 20ish chapters that I think shouldn't have been written or handled the way they were. Throughout the rest of the novel, it's fun and wholesome and even the antagonists are comedically s*upid and they get "beaten up" by being fed dog food. But in these chapters, it gets so serious and dark that it clashes with the tone of the rest of what I read. I thought the antagonists would just eventually fade into the background and it'd be satisfying to see them stuck within their usual lives when they're so greedy for more, but instead, the antagonists become insane and the things that happen are straight out of a soap opera and very dark and serious.Right after the arc is done the novel just returns to being a fluffy romantic gag comedy. I don't know, the brief abrupt change didn't sit right with me. There was no need for it, I think the novel shouldn't have taken that detour, it was a drag to read.Still, 5/5 stars! So good. My face hurt from smiling and laughing, and I was fed a lot of dog food. I like it when the couple gets together halfway through so I can see how they behave around one another while in a relationship. I had so much fun. I'm surprised that, despite usually being unable to focus for 200+ chapters, it was a breeze with this novel. Even after binging 213 chapters in 3 days, I feel like I could read another 100. It's so funny and I love the main CP and their relationships with others.
