The main character’s actions (Eugene) aren’t really consistent with her own values. It would make sense if she had a really high sense of justice, but she doesn’t so it makes me question why would she even bother with becoming a guardian for the kids. In the story Enrique complimented her for being able to control her emotions but in my eyes I think her actions at the spur of the moment whether by her naivety or by recklessness have put her in danger many times. Besides, If she truly felt bad for the kids she could’ve tried to search for a way to contact Eileen instead of trying to take her place in the story. Taking away orphaned kids out of their homelands to a distant land incognito without the consent of their legal guardian just because there might be someone that can receive them is far fetched and illogical. These inconsistencies in her character makes me believe that the story’s direction is misguided and that it doesn’t align with the scope of the character settings.
