This is definitely an angst novel. (Or sweet potato, if you’re used to Korean slang.) Don’t take that “abusive characters” tag lightly. It falls into a niche that I oddly enjoy. The main character is broken and hopeless. She tries her best, but it takes everything she has just to get through the day. I enjoy reading about strong, determined heroines, but I suppose I also like broken heroines because they’re closer to my own life experiences. So, I find the MC’s character believable and not annoying—though I know some people won’t be able to stand her helplessness. With that said, 45 chapters in we’re still setting up for the main plot. Certain characters are revealing their true colors while other important characters are being introduced. This novel has the potential to end up being really satisfying, but we’re definitely not there yet. I’ll try to come back and update this review once things start moving in that direction.
