I Realized the Genre I Was Possessed in 15 Years Later Chapter 19 Discussion

Couldn’t get any further because this novel was pissing me off. The MC is one of the worst I’ve read in a long time. He’s selfish, idiotic, intensely oblivious, and straight up mean-spirited. A few examples:

After 15 years in a war he somehow still thinks he’s weak and untalented (nobody thought to tell him he defeated a demon Duke?) and it’s “justified” by him just ignoring someone who’s talking to him multiple times. Author seems to think that just because it took only 1 chapter that it magically wasn’t 15 whole years.

MC says he just wants a peaceful life farming but sunk all his money into monster infested, infertile lands in the North (off some random guy’s suggestion).

He contemplates and then threatens to execute a bunch of refugees because they committed the crime of living on his land (which was abandoned), only reason he doesn’t is because he can force them into being his serfs (and they’re somehow thankful for this lmao).

In pretty much every interaction with others he only thinks about himself, and regularly makes obvious mistakes about other people’s intentions that make the densest harem protagonist in all of anime look like a genius with unprecedented emotional intelligence.

I’m willing to suspend my disbelief or to read stories with MCs who are bad people, but when an author writes an MC that’s this much of a dumb as*hole and portrays him as a normal, decent guy, I just can’t keep reading.
