FL & ML both have a common feature; they like to run away (from home and others?). They are also from the same world; the legal system world where the laws are their guides.
Their childhood stories are swamped in darkness, but the FL was more fortunate and she got out of the darkness with her positivity and cheerfulness (and support from her family) . ML? He's not so lucky. He was burdened and trapped for 20 years. His family is sweet but they didn't really understand, so they couldn't fully support him.
If you don't read until the end, you won't be able to understand their beautiful relationship. FL seems a bit spoiled and childish, but she wasn't extreme. Just sometimes the situation made her think of giving up. It's better than clinging to something she thought she won't ever get.
ML seems cold and aloof, but he was desperately hoping for a ray of light. Once he understood his deep feelings, he strived to pursue it inspite of all the challenges he faced. And I think FL's honesty about her feelings gave courage to him (unlike the FL who always had misunderstandings of his feelings at many times).
Them being together was destined from the start, but they resisted the fate, and finally created their own destiny.
