I didn't really have a problem with the wordiness because I've noticed there are only 2 ways to properly let the reader enjoy a faceslapping: by using the reaction of a crowd (which is why there are a lot of brainless bystanders) or by grinding the opponent into the mud thoroughly (either physically, or in this case, spiritually).What I disliked was how awkward and bland the interaction was between the MC and ML. Maybe it gets better later, but I noticed the only fun parts for me were whenever the villains showed up for another round of faceslapping. Even the whole rune drawing gold finger wasn't terribly exciting for me. I think because the author seems to have rushed a bit in setting up things for both the romance and the gold finger, so there's not enough time to savor the process. Maybe all the time went to the MC's speeches lol.
