3.5 starsit’s pretty interesting, but I think it’s a little generic, so i’d hesitate to compare it to deep sea embers and definitely not LOTM. cliche-wise, orphan boy with tragic past gets picked up and nurtured by old man powerhouse, crazy fast power leveling because he has ~perseverance~ and ~willpower~ and this mysterious girl supporting him. nothing we haven’t seen before.i do like the power system and the world setting, but I feel like a lot of the stuff that would be interesting is skipped over. like he magically starts using these skills Spoiler

[collapse] with no explanation of how they actually work or how he learned them, and that left me a little disappointed... like how are you going to have a cool power system and then not explain it in detail so everyone can appreciate how cool it is :/ will keep reading for now in hopes it gets better
