Childhood Friend of the Zenith Chapter 200 Discussion

  • #1
This is another strong starting Korean novel that falls apart after around 100 chapters.

Here the problem is that the main character essentially becomes a martial arts Mary Sue, and both he and his childhood friend lose any of the traits that made the novel interesting to begin with.

Chapters start to feel like filler, where MC will go off on an internal tangents that have no place in the current situation nor provides any meaningful context. Most side characters get relegated to harem tropes, and the novel’s momentum gets stopped by their long-winded interactions way too often.

Even the main character loses a coherent personality and both internal monologues and interactions with others have no real consistency.

Sadly, this book gets put into the “lost the plot” bucket and it doesn’t look like it’ll dig itself out anytime soon.
