I wished this novel was better than what it actually is. I was in love with the concept of this novel, 300+ chapters about a someone transmigrating into a cultivation world and working hard to take care of his family? Sign. me. up.

I ended up MTL-ing because of how interested I was in with where this story would go only to be disappointed with the execution. One of the things I didn't like was the lack of descriptions or explanation about the world and the magic systems. This is one of the main reasons why I'm so drawn into cultivation stories because of how in depth the descriptions and world could be. This story's way of words and descriptions of events is very... simple in comparison to other novels of this genre.

I came into this expecting a wholesome cultivation development story but what I found myself reading majority of the time was instead just various side characters' POV reactions about what the MC has done rather than being in the POV of what the MC is doing. At this point, I feel like can tell you more about the side characters than about the actual main characters. I've never seen an author even push their own MC to the back seat like this one has. Having read the other reviews, I'm afraid this issue would only get worse.

The relationship between the MC and Xu Mu'an felt very ill/ underdeveloped. The first set of chapters I enjoyed! The MC and ML are very likeable but then the more you read ironically, the less you're going to read about them in their POV. I feel like I could count the interactions between Xu Mu'an and Xiao Jingting with 2 hands. Additionally, whatever interactions they finally have are extremely short lived.

The MC's 2nd son, XiaoFan is given much more attention, more development and word count than the actual MC and ML has I swear. Don't get me started on XiaoDong, the eldest son, he's just like a trailing ghost who's there to make jokes about XiaoFan.

I don't even know how I would rate this to be honest, maybe a 2.5 if I could.

Stealing words from Compass96, it's not bad, but very mediocre.

I would only recommend this if you're looking for a easy/ light read and don't hold any high expectations. It's a good time waster, I've definitely felt like I wasted my time on this one.

Otherwise, if you're looking for a good read that's in the similar vein to this, I highly recommend ''I have Medicine'' instead.
