The author came up with a somewhat interesting idea and then blew it far out of the proportions that they had the ability to control.

I thought the MC was going to be a somewhat normal person who had to live alone due to circumstances but instead he's a national level genius going to an elite academy, and there's no explanation for why it wasn't the plan for him to go there in the first place.

And the heroines aren't just generically beautiful girls with some quirks but also on a national level in their disciplines and the childhood friend is a company president for some reason, but the maturity and behaviour of the characters doesn't reflect that at all.

I think that if the characters had been somewhat "normal" people, the way the story developed might have been fine, but for high-spec characters you also need high-spec writing with greater depth to the backstories and environment.

This is just a verbalised daydream.

It doesn't help that the translation is mediocre as well.
