Listen, I know this novel has a copy and paste plot with many of the same novels in this genre...HOWEVER! I just love these sort of novels so much I love these slice of life novels that shows the coming up of a character as they start from nothing and build their on wealth with their hands and start a family of their own. I love it so much, especially when it's based in ancient time when the ease of modern technology is unavailable. This novel in particular however has a special place in my heart right next to Transmigration of Mian[... ]These two novels were both unique in their own way and while Mian was a little unrealistic well, it's a novel so it's okay for some of it to be a bit farfetched. But this one was really well written and very realistic and reasonable. The way relationships came together and fell apart were so real and made me really fall deeply in love with it because there was no disputes that took illegal means to get rid of competition like most novels use. Because believe it or not, jealousy doesn't always have to manifest in threats and violence. So I was very surprised the writer didn't take this route, but instead showed the ones in competition attempting to settle it by getting one up on them. So while I disliked these characters for how they acted, I didn't find them to totally unreasonable. The only character I couldn't stand was the so called good friend of the ML because how and why do you resort to such pigheaded thoughts with that strange emotional state? it was so weird he literally wanted to kill the MC (tho not directly but indirectly by feigning ignorance). Still, it showed how relationships come in all different forms and take on a life of their own with the differing of perception.Another thing, I was very happy this wasn't another novel that ended with them somehow becoming emperors/acquainted with the crown like most do. like, being tributes is one thing, but thankfully the ML wasn't some big name general in the past or the Xu brothers weren't princes in secret otherwise I'd have been completely disappointed in that turn of events.Overall this novel was great. even the last 10 chapters perfectly answered any questions that may have been left lingering. I thoroughly enjoyed this.4.5/5
