If you are looking for a story without romance or a story with a simple romantic subplot with only 1 love interest, this story isn't for you. First, the author puts a whole arc for the romantic development of MC and another character. It was the most beautiful part of the story and the only part that made me truly cry. An absolute masterpiece tbh.
Then, MC says some bullsh*t about the girl no longer being the same person after death whatever, and decides to leave her in the next regressions (while still claiming that his love is very strong and he is betrothed to her and he won't fall in love with any other person blah blah blah.) Only for the author to start a new romance arc with a new love interest a dozen chapters later (oh and the author makes sure to tell us that the original love interest is still in love with MC because her strong love (and probably some memories) have traveled to the new timeline with her from the previous timeline. But MC doesn't know that because he was busy running away from her like a coward and causing a bullsh*t misunderstanding)
Then we proceed to see how MC forgets all his past words and promises and falls in love with a crazy, very unlikable new obsessive woman (my personal opinion, though. Some readers seem to like her somehow). Then things happen, etc and the timeline ends. And do you know what happens in the next timeline? MC immediately runs to this new love interest and starts telling her how much he's in love with her (and saying to himself that he's always going to be in love with her in the next regressions). Something in total contradiction to his character development in the last fu*king 150 chapters. For GOD's sake author... MC literally ran away from the past love interest because he said he couldn't see her as the same person anymore after her timeline finished! And it's not just that love interest. MC has said the same thing about every single character throughout the story! He always says when a timeline ends all the people he met and their feelings and memories together also end with that timeline! Now he suddenly has a change of mind out of nowhere?! wtf. A total contradiction in his character just because author wants to force a harem by adding a useless new love interest? The first love interest is going crazy because her emotions from the past timeline have transferred with her and MC is busy betraying her with another woman lol
Sorry for any typos etc. I can't bear to reread what I wrote. It pains (and disgusts) me to even think about how the author ruined such a beautiful story for such a s*upid reason.
[collapse] The author is clearly forcing a harem/love triangle out of nowhere and I really need to take a break from all this crap. I might come back and check the process of the novel after the translation gets further. rating before chapter 130: 5/5 (I do recommend reading this novel if you are fine with the romance situation that I explained above) rating chapters 130-150: -3/5 Total rating: 1/5 (yeah, this novel doesn't deserve this low rating. But I'm an as*hole who can't get over the feeling of being betrayed by the author) Translation rating: 20/5 (loved the translation and the translator. Absolutely fantastic. It's really unfortunate I need to put this novel on hold for a while) Edit 1: I had some hopes this doesn't continue going to harem/love triangle route but as some commenters mentioned, it seems that Spoilerthe author is going to add 1 more love interest in a few more chapters. And considering this novel now has over 400 chapters and it's still ongoing, I seriously doubt that the author stops adding more love interests when we already have 3 of them in the first 250 chapters.
mini update: I was right - author added 1 more love interest around chapter 290. Thus, as of chapter 300, there have been a total of 4 love interests that MC had feelings for. But as I see it, MC won't go back to 3rd or 4th love interests again.
[collapse] Also, about the other commenter who said MC ties up all loose ends in the lower realm: SpoilerHe doesn't. He just makes big trouble for the 1st love interest before leaving her in madness. The next time they meet he might not care about her anymore but she's 100% not going to just stop loving him or stop thinking about him (based on what I saw in her last interaction with MC. Where MC supposedly 'tied up his loose ends with her' based on other comments). And MC changed the checkpoint of his loops so now in every single one of the remaining loops the first love interest is going to continue having feelings to the point of madness towards him. And he can no longer go back and change anything
You're telling me this is not a harem and MC is going to only end up with the 2nd love interest? Then I'll get more angry at the author because he decided to ruin the peaceful ending MC could have had with the 1st love interest and decided to pull this 'emotions traveling through timelines' bullsh*t on her out of nowhere.
Also, I don't get why some readers keep removing even the love triangle tag that was on this novel once. Based on the current process of the novel, the 1st love interest is definitely going to be in love with him in all the remaining loops (unless he somehow changes the checkpoint back to the beginning). And we already know that the 2nd love interest was in love with him from the beginning. This means until the end there would be a minimum of 2 love interests who constantly have feelings towards MC.
[collapse]Edit 2: I wrote this comment when the 'harem' and 'love triangles' tags were not added. It seems someone added these tags a while ago. I guess my warning is not needed anymore. But I keep my comment as it is because, in the first place, my main problem was notSpoileronly with the fact that there are multiple love interests but the illogical way that MC's whole personality and actions changed when he met the 2nd love interest. Especially not when the 2nd love interest is such an annoying obsessive woman compared to the very likable 1st love interest.
The only reason MC fell for the 2nd love interest seems to be the fact that MC, for no reason, trapped himself with her for 1000 years (we all know he was perfectly capable of avoiding those events). The only way to explain why he might fall for her (when she was acting like an obsessive crazy woman the whole time - the literal definition of a person you don't want to be in love with) is his fu*ked up mental state for being trapped inside a puppet or author's bias toward korean characters...
Anyway, hopefully, the tags won't be removed again like before. Idk why but there is a strong resistance from some readers about these tag and they keep removing them.
[collapse]Edit 3: Hey again. As I mentioned above, after my brain cooled down from the events of 2nd love interest, I decided to give this novel a second shot.Honestly, it feels like the first 150 chapters have been a mere introduction. This author is a genius in finding more and more fascinating cultivation and martial arts realms. The writing quality is even better than I remember and the author's attention to detail is off the charts. Tbh I remember reading very few (or none at all) other novels that gave me even half such a feeling of attention to detail from the author. I also feel some improvements in terms of how the author describes the emotions (unlike the initial chapters that gave awkward feelings sometimes, all recent emotional chapters are written pretty well).Let me not even start with the unbelievably thorough background and character-building that author puts behind every character. Even the sidest side characters in this novel have more personality than 99% of the main characters in other novels of nu (I'm neither joking nor exaggerating. I'm stating the truth). The current villain turns every scene into a horror movie. You just can't help but stay paranoid "how's he gonna screw everything over this time". He puts every villain to shame. And this guy is just a mid-range boss - not even the actual villain. But even with all these, in some moments he seems more like a gray character.SpoilerIt seems he is planning to get revenge on someone and because of that he's gone crazy.... if MC finds out about his plans he might be able to reach that remaining light in his heart and turn him into the person he used to be once
[collapse]I wouldn't be surprised if he turns into an ally sometime in the future... We also have a bunch of other gray characters who, depending on how MC approaches them, sometimes screw MC over and sometimes help him.Same for all other side characters. They all have a complex story behind them.In addition to the romance, the only problem in recent chapters is that MC sometimes makes some s*upid decisions just because the author wants to screw him over in that timeline. Honestly, sometimes I feel everything is a bit too predictable with how everything always goes wrong. MC is really untalented (and unlucky) in making plans... I can't even remember the last time his plans went according to his expectations. The other commenter is not really exaggerating when they say every prediction you make, the prediction being his plan will fail, comes true at a 100% success rate. And I've already mentioned this before, but I ABSOLUTELY love the translation and the translator. Both are fantastic and the consistency and quality of updates are out of this world.Edit 4: WTH this must be the joke of the year. The author just uploaded the original version of the story before they decided to change it because of 'fan requests'. Turns out, I was right the whole time about MCs actions not making sense during the 2nd love interest's arc.SpoilerIn the original version, MC rejected 2nd love interest's love because he couldn't love her and he literally mentions that he reads intense "obsession and madness" from her heart that kept growing stronger after 1000 years.
The funny part is, the author mentions that they still totally believe the original version shouldn't have changed and that was the best one. To think they still changed it because some random fans requested it...
The new version simply broke MC's whole character building into pieces- but to hell with that right? At least the author followed whatever 'fans' requested hah.
[collapse]I'm still gonna continue reading it though. Everything except that cursed arc is pretty good. If any remaining problem, it would be that Spoilerbecause author made MC fall in love with the 2nd love interest he can no longer say 'Hehe it never happened'. So we still have to deal with the remains of that cursed arc once in a while...
And from that I mean MC still claims that "all relationships I build during a timeline finish in that timeline because in the next timelines, they are no longer the ones I once knew and loved" but after nearly 300 chapters, he's still shamelessly going around, claiming he's in love with the 2nd love interest in EVERY. SINGLE. TIMELINE. At this point, it doesn't feel like the author's even 'trying' to fix the contradictions in MC's personality anymore (because fans might not like it lmao)...
[collapse]My current (very unfair compared to other tr*shy novels in nu) : 3/5 (0.5 star because of MC's occasional s*upidness and 1.5 stars for my consistent frustration with.... never mind. I'm not gonna repeat everything over for the n-th time...) Mini Update: SpoilerAround chapter 340 MC finally rejects the 2nd love interest and accepts that he has been projecting the past version of her that he loved into her new version (we're finally done with the inconsistent MC yay). Ofc, 2nd love interest, still being the same obsessive woman she is, went like "I don't care if you don't like me. I'm just gonna continue confessing to you until you somehow love me" etc.
Overall, it seems pretty obvious this is gonna end up as a harem with Yeon and Buk.
Yeon because MC thought to himself "If she keeps confessing I might again fall for her" and Buk because she's the only remaining love interest that has 'something' of her original timeline (her emotions) directly transferred to her. Not to mention, she's the only person connected to MC's Canvas of Myriad Forms and Connection. This means she might even gain her original memories back. It doesn't take a genius to guess what happens after MC realizes this.
[collapse]This is my last edit (hopefully). Thanks for following me with my long a** one-man monologue-rant-review showBest :))
