I've read slice of life but this still felt boring. I wanted to know more about the villagers but towards the end it seems to be more focused on royal intrigue. Speaking of royals, I really hate the emperor. He demanded the ML take his previous position after he resigned and had his own family because he needed to take care of one thing really, was there no one else. And was also the reason why ML had to resign, trying to force his niece on him. His half brother even killed the stepmother of the ML and the only thing he could give the ML was that he was going to investigate it when he already knew who did it. The point is I didnt really see why they had to put up with it to begin with. But apart from that the ML has a weird situation going on, and I just cant bring myself to like him. The original died in his care while he was sitting on a pile of money and had magical healing pills. I know that if the original didnt die then we couldn't have the pairing but that's really messed up when you think about it. His intentions towards the original also had me looking at him sideways. It was only mentioned that he wanted to marry a guy because he didn't like his step mother so continued to equate every female to her, which is such a lazy move to me, I mean his dad was awful to him as well, didnt see that turn him off men. The other thing that got me was the time line, ML is a genius martial artist, better than anyone in the novel. But only really had about 6 months of training?? Meanwhile MC had been practicing for years with assistance from his spring water and still wasn't good enough.
