The best thing about the story is how loving the ML is towards his wife. Basically an iceberg to everyone but a marshmallow to MC. He is the cute jealous type, not the yandere jealous type.They started out in this rural village, living next to the chicken coop, disdain by the ML's dad and stepmom. ML was forced to marry MC because some fortune-teller said something. Thankfully not all the stepfamily are annoying. Unfortunately, the annoying ones stay on for quite some time.There is some face slapping here, but it's not a big part of MC's agenda. He just wants to get out of the chicken coop and make money to better their lives.I have a guilty pleasure of liking stories that try to bring modern-ish tech to apply it to primitive/ancient setting. This story focused more on modern Chinese cuisine being introduce in ancient China. It is always hotpot though. I made it through 170 chapters of atrocious MTL butchering, so... Imma just wait for the translated chapters coz this point of the story is palace politics and drama, and my brain just cannot anymore.
