The zombie grandpa regained some of his consciousness because of the help of the 3rd Dad, he understood most information around him but he couldn't speak yet. When Bian Bian were teaching Granpa Lu Yu and Uncle Zhu Yuan to use indoor slippers, grandpa saw a lot of small scars in Bian Bian insteps and legs (I think it caused by all the trial and error she did on the few first day she lived alone) and Grandpa was sad. He wanted to see closer, he wanted to treat Bian Bian, he wanted to ask why she had all these scars, but he couldn't speak, and he couldn't even touch or get close to Bian Bian because he was scared he would hurt her. He knew that Bian Bian was very precious to him and he couldn't do anything that will hurt her, even in his semi conscious state, he knew that she was his most precious person.
Honestly I already feel touched from everything Grandpa Lu Yu did and prepared for Bian Bian before his end. He raised her preciously so she could have a semi-decent childhood in the apocalypse, he taught her everything she needs, from house chore to any knowledge on apocalypse that could help her, he gave up living in a base so Bian Bian would never be bullied, and even nearing his end, Grandpa Lu Yu even prepared a good strategy so nearly no human or zombie would get close to Bian Bian residence, including himself. Rarely found a good side character building like this, and I appreciate every scene where Grandpa Lu Yu showed up.
