I am further than the other review, but they are right that the egg does not appear very quickly and does not have much impact on the main plot even after it is found and born. The egg the main character was born from seems to have more screen time. This is a story of a male lead raised by adoptive father Tiandi (yes, not tiandou; I wonder if that is important to the story?) who is not sure of his exact feelings for this "father". The main character's human form is nearly identical to Tiandi. Why did he abandon his adoptive family only to suddenly inform Hou Yao (ML) upon his return that he had to return to the sky and entrust the child of the (then) demon queen to him? What connection is there between Hou Yao, Tiandi, and Xie Zao? Why does Tiandi, who asked Hou Yao to care for Xie Zao, try so hard to kill his lookalike?I actually do not know the answers to all of these yet, but this is the true conflict in this story: What price is required for this family to achieve their happy ending? Who or what is the troublemaker acting as an obstacle on their path? Did Tiandi provoke a karma that they must atone for?Xie Zao can be a bit of an oblivious blockhead who refuses to believe anything but what he wants to believe until the truth is shoved right into his face. This causes a lot of frustration as a reader when certain truths are particularly obvious. Despite his bullheadedness, he rarely allows his mistaken assumptions to interfere with his judgement. XZ is very sincere to those he loves and trusts their input on situations when he is getting led away by his imagination. An example might be his (honestly somewhat valid) concern that his lover might see him as a stand-in for Tiandi. XZ knows that he will love HY regardless of what the Thunder Deity thinks of him and works to treat his lover better than Tiandi. XZ does not show his anger about HY's trust in Tiandi, because he tries to be understanding of the respect HY feels for his adoptive father even when can't empathize.Xie Zao's personality makes the frustration with his thought process much more forgivable than most novels that rely on misunderstandings to build up the plot. Don't be afraid to give it a try!
