Felt like I was playing mount and blade again, the author clearly did their research, the world, and the characters, feel real. Not hyper realistic to the point where you might as well just read an history book, but realistic just enough to not make you feel like you are reading about some shoddily made world based on a JRPG. It's great, pretty rare to find fantasy novels with such historical authencity. The power levels are also very grounded and reasonable, armor isn't paper (except for the protagonist), and a sword is often times more practical than magic for killing enemies. The protagonist is a pretty chill dude who others tend to misunderstand as a paragon of virtue for acting like a normal person due to other nobles having atrocious behavior, it's kinda of funny.Overall it's a good novel and you can feel the effort put into it with how the author displays the world, a great medieval fantasy novel that's actually medieval.
