The premise is interesting and the execution (world-building, elaboration of characters, dialogue, etc.) is relatively to-the-point but effective. The summary may not sound very interesting, but there is much more to this novel than 'escaping.'

While descriptive, the writing strikes a comfortable middle ground between detail and conciseness. For example, power systems play a large role in the story, but are not overly embellished, allowing elaborations to be organically added as the story develops.

The emphasis of this novel is on the interaction and relationship between the two main characters, which may belie the fantasy setting or gender-bender tag. Although there is plenty of action and magic, the novel spends significantly more time showing the development and thoughts of the two protagonists.

The translation is superb, far beyond the quality of most novels on this site.

Overall, a very easy and comfy read.
