Uh... tbh, I really don't see evidence of what other reviewers are calling g*ooming. This is probably partly because I've read several Western BL where the ML is completely toxic and actually sleeps with the MC when their relationship is problematic (e.g., The Boy Who Loved Wicked by CP Harris, in which a professor Spoiler
(ML) sleeps with his high school student (MC) while still married and then proceeds to dump the MC when his wife becomes pregnant... if that's not scumbag enough for you, once she gives birth, he divorces her and marries the MC, then raises the child with him and for some reason the mother has zero objections about being treated as little more than a surrogate (she never appears in the story after that) *vomit*
[collapse]). I feel like there are a ton of BL novels (Western or othewise) in which the ML is a huge scumbag, a rapist and/or cheater, and readers still rate their novels highly. In comparison to those MLs, Liang Zhou is a pure hearted angel.I like the main CP, but my favorite part of the novel is the extra with Zhang x Gongsun, shorty x policeman CP! They are way too cute!!!I only lowered from 5 stars because the relationship between the main CP was a little bland...About the translation (from 5201314 team, who took down their chapter updates in order to avoid a lawsuit from jjwxc probably) : it was this fan translator's first project, but they did a decent job. I don't mind that the author's first language is neither Chinese or English. That part is fine, but for some reason the translator chose to censor bad language in the novel. Uh.... Whenever the novel had curses directed towards characters, the translator would get upset (as if to protect the MC, etc) and give some kind of wishy washy nonsense translation which reduced the meaning of that section to less than 1% of the actual meaning in Chinese. That made me angry, because the authors of Chinese web novels already heavily censor their plots and when the translator joins in the happy censorship river crab dance, it just pisses me off to no end... I know that it's the translator's prerogative. I just vehemently disagree with that kind of choice. It seems like a distortion of the author's intent, and a selfish move.
