Regas Chapter v5 part1 Discussion

I enjoyed the first volume of the novel. It broke every trope. MC was not the usual pretty boy who everyone falls in love with at first sight (ie. White lotus). While he is dense and a bit airheaded, it fit with his background of being a big country bumpkin who only has deep knowledge of a few things that were relevant to his life and upbringing. I thought I had finally found the holy grail of a MC uke that didn't fall over at the slightest breeze. I can even excuse the s*upidity since he was never really taught the skills of critical thinking.

Everyone was appalled the "Regas" was this giant ugly man instead of a pretty boy. The novel makes fun of reader's expectations and tropes that there is a mold that "Regas" are supposed to fit.

Boy was this novel a bait and switch.

Spoiler

MC became the exact manifestation of the trope he was supposed to break. I really don't understand why he got anime aids and now falls over at the slightest breeze. I guess it's easier to write an MC that randomly falls into ML's arms and need to be carried everywhere? But it's super cheap.

ML started off as a child, which is creepy in itself. But it just keeps getting worse.

Spoiler

ML is actually just evil and cruel for no reason. While he had a poor childhood, he still had a ton of people (ie. Asher) who deeply cared for him. I really can't excuse his behavior. Also, I really hate MLs that are so obsessive and insane when it comes to the MC. Seriously, 2 months when you're 10 years old, shouldn't really make you imprinted for life. But I guess that's just how these novels go.

I honestly couldn't stand the novel starting from volume 3. Every chapter was difficult to read and followed the most cliché paths ever. Character motivations are paper thin and villains are comically evil and s*upid. Also, people randomly gain and lose IQ as the plot requires.

Save some braincells and go read something else.
