This novel gets ahead of itself sometimes. Often I feel like its trying its hardest to enshrine greatness in some situation when it just doesn't deserve it. Some acts in the novel can come off as extreme within the given context, like you're entering a soap opera.

I understand the goal the author is trying to do, but not enough work has been done to convince me to feel what the characters are feeling, or emphasize with them. If I were to start describing a heart-wrenching breakup in the middle of this review, you wouldn't feel much, right?

That's basically this novel. The author isn't experienced enough to know when to step back and stop thrusting big neon signs at me, because even if I understand that you're saying 'sadness', I hardly care without the groundwork.

This criticism is pretty common, but it's a bit annoying to see it so often here. It's like I'm reading a teenage romance on some sunset stained beach with big expansionary prose on how the sand is tickling the main character's toes.
