The story isn't bad, but nothing spectacular. The plot gets predictable with some interesting events here and there. As Ecirteab said, it's generic.

I got my hopes up since I like green tea characters + showbiz and thought this would be a fun twist. Instead it lacks depth and has a few interesting plots with the rest falling flat. The execution could be poor since I read the MTL but I wouldn't fully attribute it to that.

The MC isn't exactly a "Mary Sue" but all in the same breath I'd say she is. She fits the genre: loved by all (except antagonists), solves all the problems/doesn't face any real repercussions, extremely pretty, tragic backstory, and more. The only characteristics I can think that wouldn't put her in the standard concept of "Mary Sue" is her past green tea self that isn't present anymore and outwardly self-serving actions. If the author delved into that a bit more and gave more nuance through actual repercussions for MC, I would have considered her not a Mary Sue at all. Alas, that's not how it ended up. MC isn't badly written but also isn't anything to write home about.

Don't get me started on the side characters. They were all pretty one dimensional with so much potential. Instead we were left with shells of who they could have been. They were abandoned or forgotten until the plot needs them for another thing to happen. Very disappointing to say the least.

on top of that I would like to know the wider lore about the gods/system since there is potential there, but the extremely slow progress of the plot has made me dnf this for now. From what I've seen in other reviews that isn't given much attention so I'm not missing much anyways.

Overall, if you don't mind these kinds of things and just want to turn your brain off, by all means read. Otherwise, I would say you're not missing much if you choose not to.
