In-progress. 4/5.Incredibly strong, well-written, plot-driven story. There's no filler. Everything that happens has a place in the overarching story.The setting and characterization could be considered infuriating, so it's unsurprising that there's a large divide in ratings. MC is a person who sacrifices everything. Others are amazed by his talent, but he has no ambition. He is only doing things to get to his goal. This isn't a faceslapping novel, and it is not a weak-to-strong novel.One other complaint is that thus far, the villains have been written to be cartoonishly evil or strange - like anime villains. Maybe that'll get explained later on, but that characterization is pretty jarring considering how nuanced the main characters are written.
