Don't get me wrong: I really like this book so far. Revenge rebirth ancient china badass chick mc? Yes. Cliche? Yes.. If you have read other (long revenge ancient china female MC novels aka 300+ chapters) ones like this, you kinda know it's similar but u can tell some things are different. This includes a very supportive family (except for *** that one time) who are all female baddies in ancient china. The MC does need their help which is cool. The second distinct difference from other novels of this genre and length is that the focus is heavily on war. Like she is IN THERE. She is on the field. You are next to her. Thee third thing is that the people around her are not dumb, even if it would be easier if they were since most of them want her and her family dead.I actually get the feeling like this was supposed to be like a LOW-KEY ancient china based "game of thrones" style. Manage your expectations if you love GOT, I mean the reference very lightly. Lol. In that way, that's where this book falls a bit - the plot has already been mostly spoiled by the book description itself, so I feel like I know the end game even though I haven't reached it yet. Still, I'm enjoying the journey mostly.Ngl the emperor is really a mfing idiot. If you can't tell your loyal ministers apart from your disloyal ones and your only barometer for disloyalty is whether they are overly competent ministers then damn guess only the mediocre or conniving ones (who hide) are the only ones worth existing. Smh. Tbh even if our MC is winning, this book gives enough perspective & depth of the enemy that it just makes you hate war. Everyone is fighting for something important to them but too bad for them this is our MC's world.
