My Daughter Grew Up to “Rank S” Adventurer Chapter 6 Discussion

It has a decent first impression.

The premise is that an ex-adventurer finds an orphaned baby in the wilderness and raises her. She grows up, and in an attempt to make a name for herself, leaves him to become an adventurer herself. She becomes an S rank adventurer 5 years later (hence the title), but she has a huge case of father complex, wanting to go home to see her father, but since she's too valuable of an asset to the country, she's not allowed to leave to go see him.

It's still too early to see how it will pan out, but it fleshes out the setting and characters decently. For the setting, while there's the whole adventurers, guild, and the usual fantasy tropes, there's none of the bullsh*t game stats that I'm sure you are all too tired of skimming. To be honest, that's a low standard to have for a setting, but the media is what it is. Characters on the other hand, while a bit too PG (which makes it feel like it's aimed at young adults), are reasonable and somewhat understandable.

However, I will be very disappointed if that's the whole story; daughter not being able to come home for the entire novel will be insanely dull. I hope that there will be an actual development, whether that be the characters, or the people around them. It seems a bit slice-of-life ish, which I'm okay with, but we'll see how it goes from here.

All in all, a promising start.
