Civil Servant Hunter’s S-class Resignation Log Chapter Completed Discussion

  • #1
I have mixed feelings about this novel. I enjoyed most of the ride, but at the same time I feel like something was missing. It's an action novel with a ranker system + "constellations", but it didn't give that urgent rush you usually feel when reading an action novel (think ORV). This book tries to capture multiple genres and although it does implement each of them well enough so that they complement each other, each genre felt a bit diluted. Not sure how to explain this feeling.

Lets break it down into pros and cons for simplicity's sake:

Pros

    • Interesting characters and decent character development; the side characters are really promising!
    • A FL MC that stands up for herself and takes action when she needs to
    • Civil servant comedy drama. It's something I didn't really care for at first, but I ended up enjoying it a bit as the story progressed
    • Intriguing powers, I think the MC's mom had a pretty cool power, wish the author talked more about it but understandably it was only mentioned briefly
Cons

    • MC is OP from the start, but we don't have a grasp or reference of how powerful an S-class really is. Her growth continuously skyrockets but we, the readers, don't see how she's training to become stronger. It seems like the system just keeps giving her power, as if it's not her own, which actually... Spoiler

Her power is inherited from the manager's power, who holds the original space/cube power. This was the manager's power as a human before he became a manager.

    • There could have been a bit more in-depth detailing on other character's power like Song Hanna, or just getting to know more about the world/how the Eucharists come to be. The novel builds on some aspects, but a few plot points are forgotten
    • The romance is kinda strange? It feels a bit unnatural how fixated the MC is on her manager in the early chapters, maybe it's just the writing but up until the last few chapters of the main story, it felt awkward to me. Super spoiler ahead: Spoiler

The extras make up for it a bit but they're both yanderes on the inside I swear lol. I'm considering this a spoiler since if you read the last few chapters of the main story, one of the two dies and knowing that there's extras of the CP means they didn't really die haha

So yeah, TLDR; 4/5 I enjoyed the ride but I'd only take the trip once. It starts as a comedy fluff-esque story in the beginning, but gradually transitions to a more serious atmosphere, but not too much.
