This novel is extremely underrated. Yes, it has a slow start, but I don't think that should be considered a flaw at all; it's simply a literary choice by the author. Even this slow initial arc is still pleasant to read. The protagonist is excellent—a very intelligent and manipulative young man, but he's not apathetic towards other people at all. An interesting universe and lively characters are all used to build the setting of that world before the story really takes off. After that, the story just gets better, arc after arc. I recommend giving it a chance; read it slowly and without haste, and before you know it, you'll be completely absorbed by the story.
