the novel has over 2000 chapters so the pace of it is really slow. Everything is slow, the romance, the development and the face slappings. Now that being said, it's a good slice of life novel. The male lead is a gentle scholar with a slightly more silent and cold temperament. I prefer domineering male lead. The female lead is very likable though not very shrewd. A lot of her success is due to luck. The plots so far are quite simple. I'm at chapter 800

It is not a romance novel. The romance here is like the foundation on which the story is built, necessary to explain the rationale behind the leads decision but invisible once it's been set. It is more about farming and court intrigues. After reading through the 2400+ chapters my opinion haven't changed. I think if the novel was shorter and slightly less focus on farming and more on building the romance it would have warrant a 4+. I have to say I probably fast read or skipped a third of the novel.
