In my view an author can rely on two things. Either a unique plot or good writing skills. This author has neither. As other reviews say, the plot is a tried and true one (aka cliche). Unfortunately the writer's skills are only adequate and can't carry such a well used plot. I wanted to get into the story (I favor good writing over unique plots) but the writing here can only be considered adequate.
