Rebirth novel where the MC travels back in time and beats down the people that betrayed and or hurt him and his family. Classic revenge plot, basically! The MC was the overweight and without spiritual energy for most of his life and was miserable as a result. Though a large chunk of his misery was caused by his ‘friends’ and ‘family’, who have taken advantage of him and his parents and siblings for all his life. As for the ML, he was the MC’s husband in the previous life but they didn’t have much to do with each other cause the MC disliked the fact that he was forced to marry a man as a man. In this life, they have another opportunity to grow closer~

This was surprisingly good. Knoxt’s TL is great and the FL TL was not as bad as I thought it would be (o^-') b Characters had some life to them, though I wasn’t overly invested in them. Expect lots of dogblooded family drama and satisfying faceslapping! Setting is fantasy Ancient China, with some cultivation (but it’s all background stuff). The main focus is really on the MC’s revenge!

CHARACTERS: 6/10

MC is Wu Ruo. After being twisted by the events of his last time, he’s definitely not as pure or innocent as your typical Shou!Protagonist, however, he still does have that soft and shy feel to him. He’s as OP as the ML, Hei Xuanyi, who is your typical Stoic!Gong. The two have lots of secrets to keep from each other, which is a running theme throughout the novel. The only thing left to say is that I don’t particularly dislike or like either of them as character.

ROMANCE: 7/10

The romance is not bad, it has its ups and downs. But it does drag a bit and, as per usual, the ML fell in love with the MC a bit too fast. OH! I like the discovery of past matters, that was particularly heartache-inducing T. Tb Bonus points for that.

As for the best level, this is the “summarized smut” type of novel, where everything happens in one or two vague summaries. So heat level is 1/5 at most! Also; there are some side CPs to keep an eye on, but they’re not the main focus.

SETTING: 6/10

Not much to say about setting as it’s not the focus. There’s mainly soft worldbuilding here, and I can’t say that the historical fantasy setting is very cohesive or consistent.

PLOT: 8/10

I must repeat that this is a revenge novel through and through! At least, as far as I read it! So expect lots of scheming from the MC as he gets back at the people who wronged him and his family. On the side, there’s some ridiculous shenanigans with a cute little egg LOL and a lot of dog food being fed to the side characters.

RATING: 3.4/5

Not bad all in all. Only reason I stopped was because the Wattpad version stopped at c304 — I could have probably read further along if it continued, but for now, I’m happy to wait for the Knoxt translation. It’s a bit darker than your usual story, and it has a lot of mature themes (a lot of which is triggering, so be careful!). But I considered it pretty fun in the end. Maybe the best, but worth the try for sure!

Extra Note: The chapter count is based on the Flying Lines version (which cuts the chapters up 2-3 times based on length) ! For clarification, I read the Knoxt translation up to c85.
