This novel is pretty good if you just want a forgettable read, as it has very little impact. There are no stakes, bumps, or unexpected events as the protagonist just skips along. Which is pretty expected for a Chinese novel, similarly, all the other male characters are steppingstones and all the female characters want to jump his bones. There is also a crowd that is at every important event gasping and swooning over his actions so that the reader can be explicitly told how awesome the protagonist is, however it does break from the mold a little.Because of its premise, making friends to get stronger, the typical Chinese novel face slapping is far less slapstick and is often accompanied by the victim turning into some form of fangirl for the protagonist.
