I'm only 5 chapters in so far (they aren't too long but they aren't short chapters), but I'm having difficulty getting into this one. The only two heroines that have been introduced so far are both psychotic and the MC absolutely LOATHES them (with good reason) Spoiler
one is a paranoid tyrant queen that tried to have one of her subjects decapitated or forced to have s*x with his own daughter in public just for complaining to her about high taxes or something, the other is a muscle-brained knight that scarred up his face to prevent the queen from taking a liking to him even though that didn't work in the end
[collapse]Now, there are a lot of comments here saying that this series takes a while to actually get really good and you should hang on until at least chapter 40 or something before passing judgement, but it's a mark against it if a story can't pull you in within the first several chapters. The story has to actually make you want to keep reading to actually get that far. Against my better judgement, I'll keep reading this series at least to around 40 before I decide wether to totally give up on it or keep going, but so far I'm not impressed.
