Very easy read thats not particularly heavy or convoluted. A lighthearted story about a middle aged man that picks up a pet slime and slowly gets his life back on track. As said, very simple read thats written in a mix of 3rd and occasional 1st person. Nonetheless it is enjoyable to see a person slowly find their footing and build some self esteem, relationships, and skills. The romance is there but slow, very slow, which is fairly realistic as it builds up on each passing interaction as the characters get to know each other. Nonetheless it is still slow due to the MC's lacking confidence to face his emotions despite being aware of things. Another common case of self-inflicted denseness in japanese novels despite having 3 potential partners as well as an infatuated young adult, for a total of 4 people. The other female leads have more emotional self awareness than MC and show their intention but still seem to suffer from lack of forwardness as is common in jp stories which paired up with MC's selective denseness makes for slow progress. That said, the story is easy to consume, barely any depth or gripping plot developments. All in all a simple read about a 40 yo man finding their own place in the world after decades of passivity. Wholesome but mostly good for passing time or got nothing else to read.
