This is pretty light-hearted and fun. However. And this is quite the big however, the MC's actions really require some major suspension of disbelief (for me at least).

Spoiler

The MC seems somewhat used to the generic AI search, is comfortable asking online forums about how to report hunters abusing their powers, but for some reason cannot ask about the price of his precious rock but just tries to sell it in an app that asks for your location. The MC... who is trying to lay low.

I understand not knowing things, because of the 8 year long gap, but the author will write MC using the internet like a normal person for a few chapters, then completely dumb him down the next so he can dig himself a hole. It's not like he doesn't know what GPS is, right? Like, we're seeing his POV, he says the app asks for GPS location, and he loses all brain cells soon after or something? There's not a single indication of him being confused by those particular words. He's even momentarily worried what to say about how he found the thing because those are hunter exclusive items that normal people can't get their hands on, but he's okay with meeting live to make the transaction?

Him not knowing the value of the rock is the only part that makes sense and only does so initially. Not only could he have attempted to ask online as he did before, he could even ask the hunters in his restaurant pretending to be curious or some such about how much the average rock sells for. Maybe there's more world building later that explains why he couldn't just ask. Maybe.

I usually don't even mind somewhat ditzy characters, who don't make the best choice every single time. But this feels a bit too forced. Honestly, I hope he was known as the "bad luck hunter who only has bad luck" because how else do you explain mistake after mistake after mistake, and a row of some really contrived reasons to reveal his identity.
