Hedonist Sovereign Chapter 483 Discussion

  • #1
Frustrating misunderstandings and and a mind-meltingly s*upid MC ruin what could have been a very fun and enjoyable modern day system/xianxia/harem novel. Reading some parts of this novel feels like the author repeatedly hitting the reader in the head with a bat. There are constant simple misunderstandings that drag on and on, which cause drama and untold problems for the MC. They linger for dozens or hundreds of chapters even though they can be dispelled in just a couple sentences. The audience knows the truth, the MC knows the truth, everyone does except girl #100 who now hates his guts and starts plotting against him again over some minor s*upid bs. Now lets read half a page about how "hatred glimmers in her eye" as she hugs the MC and the author plays mysterious time and time again.

I don't know why the author likes misunderstandings, out of all the faults of this novel it is the #1 thing that absolutely ruins it. Feels like the author has a genuine mental problem for adding them. They serve absolutely no purpose, it's not comedy, not drama, just pure frustration reading paragraph after paragraph of monologues and ruined/reset relationships founded on misunderstandings. Author came close to writing an enjoyable novel, but truly thought the audience didn't deserve it so he smeared some sh*t all over his story.

The villains are awful as per usual. Every single male besides the MC is a serial rapist who imports aphrodisiacs from all over Asia and Africa. Every single time a man is rejected by a woman he will put a knockout drug in her drink, totally normal stuff.

The MC is useless without his system. Constantly makes mistakes in combat, and has his little pig tell him what to do even 400 chapters in.

Spoiler

The aphrodisiac misunderstanding is the SINGLE WORST misunderstanding in any novel I've ever read

Rou Rou's betrayal was a clear retcon by the author, as we got her POV plenty of times in early chapters and never once was there any signs of her being not who she said she was. And afterwards she erases her memory, which I found extremely cowardly. In fact her whole character is morally reprehensible (as is YinYing), but I'm sure we're going to suffer them as love interests later on.

Read this only when there's truly nothing left and you don't mind losing a couple of iq points.
