The Prince Can Always Hear The Secret Servant Chanting The Qingxin Mantra Before Going To Bed Chapter Completed Discussion

  • #1
A very sweet yet angsty novel about a prince and an assassin who share a deeply connected past and whose identities are more complex than they seem.

I hesitated a lot on whether I should pick this book up, mostly because the title sounded... well let's just say it wasn't very captivating, but eventually gave in and I'm so glad I did. First of all, I 100% agree with the fact that this book should be titled something else. "Candied Plums", "How Can a Shallow Fate Overcome a Deep Love"... I don't particularly care, I can accept anything except for the current one! Believe me when I say the original title doesn't make this book justice, and neither does the synopsis.

The main couple is both sweet and silly. The main character is shy but blunt, and the male lead hilariously changes between a super powerful being and an idiot with a single brain cell. They are even sillier when they fall in love with each other. The side couple was really interesting and I'm glad the author developed their relationship as the story progressed, alongside the main couple.

Some of my favourite quotes~ (SPOILERS AHEAD)

Spoiler

"Look, everyone thinks that I love the human world because I like the flowers from there, when in fact, it's obvious that I love someone from that world. He's so graceful and restrained, genuinely good, but I don't know how to be like that. I, ah, I love him, so I'll do my best to accompany him, pester him. If he's annoyed with me, tired of me, then I'll try my best to forget him and not annoy him again."

"Love shouldn't be petty and low. Or oppressive, or condescending, or aggressive. It should be like reaching out to support your significant other when the boat sways slightly when they reach out to pick lotuses on a Summer day. It should be wrapping them close to you when the Autumn breeze turns cold all of a sudden."

"That's all I can do. Because you not only represent my most innate longing, but also my most repressed affection."
