Story is well written but if you came in expecting a chase, it's incredibly short lived. I truly was caught off guard when Leonardo was not only caught, he stayed caught and I skimmed until chapter 70 so I can assume that's how it stays for the rest of the novel. So with no other escapes you would expect some mind games to come in but honestly Leonardo just ends up helping the Council that he hates because he gets dragged along with Hugo's regiment everywhere. His bleeding heart shines bright and ends up solving all the problems the regiment has which is fine except now it feels like we lost the plot.

I think if my expectations were different going in this novel, I wouldn't have gotten so mad at the plot but I did so I was. This is the reason I'm writing this review. It's a good story but don't go into it expecting a chase or a whole lot of rebelling. It's more prisoner and guard than rebel and cop.
