I think more than just a harem novel, this novel also blooms into a touching youth/school life novel. The pacing of this novel is excellent. It takes its time to develop all the important relationships. In the harem stage, there's the budding relationships, the sourness between love rivals. When you think a relationship stage starts to stagnate, it boils over to a new stage and sets a different dynamic. I never felt annoyed by things dragging out. There's also a final male lead (don't read the Chinese summary if you don't want to be spoiled). And there's also a focus on their relationship after they get together! So you get the sweetness too, and the plot takes on new elements or resolves old ones and shifts away from harem shenanigans.I also really liked (most of) the harem. Well, the important ones anyways. It's a four man rivalry but two get more focus. Despite the absurd premise of elite boys school, it doesn't actually rely too much on boring cliches. The male leads don't bully the main character or harass him. They're friends with him in their own way and respect him. You don't get weird forced love scenarios or s*xual harassment. It's refreshing to read.Non-spoiler description of the male leads in no particular order.1. Pu Yu - taciturn and gloomy CEO type who is actually very clingy2. Sheng Yan - bright and moving, destined for stardom3. Li You - wolfish but with a very gentle heart imo4. Shen Lingsi - secretly unhinged but ultimately, boringHonestly I feel like other than shen lingsi, in other circumstances I feel like MC would work well with the other two leads : (thankfully their stories do get a happy ending but it's very sour and bittersweet. I really liked them and their individual dynamics with the MC.Ning song is also a fun and lively MC. He's way more fake and controlled in the beginning but as he opens up you get to see his lively side. He's steady at heart and very sincere. As mentioned in the summary, he becomes super gorgeous so be warned of various descriptions on that end towards the latter story.I do like that all male leads fall for him before he becomes super good looking. He's not ugly in the beginning, just under nourished.Honestly, it's an enjoyable read. The harem stage is exciting and comedic, with the sweet budding of love. The couple stage is sticky sweet with the sourness of growing up and unrequited love. There are some loose threads but I don't really care about some characters so whatever.
