Another thing regarding the later chapters, the same thing holds true where the MC never undergo hardships... Because there were none.
Oh, no! The potato field is being attacked by B-Rank Monsters! She had to run away to safety but, what's this? She stumbled upon a rat's burrow where she was forced to hide in and coincidentally, found amazing treasure that helped her in raking more points! Hooray!
Winter is coming up... Oh, ho? Her friend's brother found a cotton field which provided cotton!? That's exactly what she needed for the upcoming winter that surely wasn't forgotten, right? The scene ensues and she survives the blood-sucking aphids and even saved the lifes of the mercenaries! Ooh, presents...
Oh, my! Her business partner who managed to get information as well as a spot in a excavation team to the Bamboo forest where a very expensive ore is located. Time passed, a S-Rank dead with 3 girls fawning over her and more points secured...
The stakes are quite literally non-existent now due to how fast she gets points with no danger for her to be cautious off. Why? It's simple, The lottery which leads me to reason number 2.
[collapse]Reason Number 2 :The lottery. As stated by another review, this is just basically a deus ex machina where it is used to solve any problem the MC encountered at the moment. For something that is supposed to be random, it sure loves giving what the MC needed at the given time. Hell, it even has a function where if you only spent twice as much, you get exactly the item you need!I wouldn't mind deus ex machina as long as there's an equivalent exchange but there's... Really none.SpoilerThe thing about the MC's organ or soul would be taken away if she does not repay her debt does not really count as an equal exchange... Reason being that she just... Gets points too fast to really worry about dying. It's just there as a convenient plot device the author uses to solve problems immediately rather than allowing the MC to develop as a character. Speaking of which, seamless transition to my next point!!!
[collapse]Reason number 3 :The MC and the FL.Firstly, the MC. I don't have much to say regarding the MC because... She's just kind of there? Ig? Sure, the MC has her moments but other than that? I could only describe her as strangely calm & collected for someone who's been sheltered her whole life before their entire world turned upside down, forced to live through a reality one could only describe as a living nightmare, unsurprisingly naive with how she interacts in the world she finds herself given she was never native to said world, obvious by the fact there are times where some things are unclear to her when it was common knowledge for someone else and lastly, just plain... s*upid? I don't have a better way to put it. For example, the points. Even 100 points is enough for someone's food for 10 months (assuming they simply bought the flavored one), now, imagine what you could do with... Oh, you know, a million points? That's exactly 1000000. Or, what if you just have one hundred thousand points? 100000? That's a lot of zeros you know. Might I remind you that the author specifically said that you can rent a house for... I don't know... 5000? That's a safe and secure living space. For 5000 points. Even if you only have 100k points, you can have a good enough living space temporarily for, let me remind you, 5 THOUSAND points. Especially when you're living with someone injured and defenseless, wouldn't you want them to be in a place where you don't have to worry about poisonous gas, monsters AND thieves out to kill you? Yet, again, a seamless transition to the FL <333I honestly doubt you could call Erensu the FL at all. The interactions between the MC and FL are few and far between. Even if they miraculously interact, the MC is gushing over the FL while the FL is just planning to kill the MC. Great romantic environment you guys got there, I can smell the roses tinted glasses from over here. Here's another thing, it doesn't even feel consensual at some point.SpoilerI am a Yuri enthusiastic myself but even I'm bothered by this. There's a scene where the MC found out that having powers lead to a deteriorated mental state and to help her sweet ol' FL... She gets a potion where if any Esper are near her, they feel calm and relax. The FL notices and in a state where she was honestly, not herself, the MC kisses her (I don't recall whether or not it was on the lips or forehead) but equally as bad because it wasn't, and say it with me, consensual as an external force that changed how the FL felt for a moment which did not RELFECT what she truly believed as she wanted to kill the MC for even touching her. I don't believe that sounds like a consenting relationship! Just saying.
Though, that doesn't mean FL is off the hook. In volume 2, the FL overdosed on magic stones which caused her pain as well as a spike in one of her desires... Primarily, lust. Oh, goody! The MC was nearby and... Oh. Oh, my. That's not... That's not good. The MC got pinned down as the FL... How do I say this? Groped and touched her as the MC tried to break free but couldn't as the FL was much, much stronger. She gave in to her fate... And kissed the FL back. I'm sorry but correct me if I'm wrong, that's absolutely no good at all. It doesn't MATTER if the MC kissed her back in the end, this shouldn't have happened in the first nor was there really any reason to. This is not consensual, this is an assault. This was an encounter where the other had full control over the situation whether or not their partner was consenting or not. She wasn't in her right state of mind is not an excuse to just allow this to happen in your novel. Sure, the MC did show some attraction to the FL but as I said before, that doesn't justify what the FL did.
[collapse]But... That's just me, right? There's so much more I want to say but I doubt any people would read this much so... Yeah. Now, to the TLDR.TDLR : This is basically just a novel where you have to turn your brain off to enjoy... And, well, if you don't mind the other themes this novel presents but personally? I don't recommend it at all.
