This is alright. It's by no means bad. The storylines are set up, progress, and have a gentle landing. Karhan grows as a person from a wreck to an intellectual. Yet other than bringing the hooks and threats to fruition, the later acts don't create any dilemmas. As the pieces are rearranged the businesswoman, the sweet sensitive soldier keep moving forward on luck and inherent advantages. We are told how smart and talented they are, we see them put in effort and circumstances coalesce, yet their thought process amounts to having the right solution without interesting steps.

It's the sort of story you could imagine cut to less than half the length and packaged into a Disney film, with added singing animals. Part of that is how endearing and cute most of the major roles are. Not just Karhan, but every ally except maybe the MC felt like stuffed animals to me, only with different classes and facial expressions.

By the time I got to the end, I've run out of enthusiasm for any extras. I never got very attached to the characters. They're cute, but not defined enough to be great for either the light or heavy moments. While the story didn't waste time, it didn't bring anything unconventional to the table after act 1. A 3.5 for me.
