Although the story itself is interesting, albeit somewhat generic, it was rather poorly written.For example, instead of using implication and leading the reader through natural conversation to arrive at their own conclusion, there are many times when the side characters would say things that no normal human would say in the middle of a conversation just to inform the reader aka exposition.On its own it might not be a big deal but when it happen multiple times it become quite jarring and annoying. On top of that it is just one of many rookie level mistakes that plague the novel in general, I'm just using it as an example to show what level of writing the author has. I respect anyone trying to write regardless of their level but this is just not worth my time
